For immediate release

tricot nouveau by Lysanne Latulippe (AKA majolie)

Montreal, January 18th, 2010 - From January 27th to March 12th, 2010, the Montreal Centre for Contemporary Textiles (MCCT) presents tricot nouveau, an exhibition of recent works by Lysanne Latulippe (AKA majolie) prize-winner of the Prix Lucien-Desmarais, in 2008.

The opening of the exhibition will take place on Wednesday, January 27th 2010, starting at 5 pm.

Lysanne Latulippe, a specialist in the field of knitting, offers us an exhibition in which she reinterprets and transforms the textures and patterns which she has created over the last decade. Within the space of our gallery, she invites us to follow her into a world where fabric is bicoloured, with designs that are both clean and contrasted. She invites us to immerse ourselves in an environment of large knitted panels where we can fully experience their visual and tactile effects.

As a designer, Lysanne Latulippe is guided by the raw materials she uses and their characteristics. In her work, she revives traditional patterns, uses illustrations and is inspired by nature. The refined lines that characterize her fabrics underline her search for balance between technology and creativity.

Lysanne Latulippe lives and works in Montréal. A specialist in knitting and its techniques, she created her own label of clothing majolie which she distributed across Canada for nearly ten years. She now acts as a consultant and instructor for various companies. She also collaborates with independent designers. She recently participated in the creation of a video-clip entitled Les peaux des lièvres for the musical group Tricot machine. Since 2005, she has been teaching knitting at the Montreal Centre for Contemporary Textiles, the school from which she graduated in 2000.
