Montreal, November 12th, 2007 – From November 15th to December 13th, 2007, the Montreal Centre for Contemporary Textiles (MCCT) présents Out of the Box, a selection of art quilts from Out of the Box Fibre Art group. This group is a co-operative association of impassioned textile artists from Ottawa region. This association aims at the innovation and creation of textile artworks, the promotion via exhibitions and the professional development of its members by offering an educational program.

Visitors will be able to appreciate a diversified selection of quilts testifying to the richness of the artistic quality of members of this group. Uncommon forms and materials and a daring use of hand and machine embroidery make burst the technique of quilting!

The participating artists are :
Joanne Batchelor, Chantal Davignon, Heather Dubreuil, Margaret Dunsmore, Wendy Feldberg, Karen Goetzinger, Beverly Hastings, Neera Huckvale, Carmella Karijo Rother, Elaine Quehl, Fortunée Shugar et Kit Vincent.

The opening is taking place on Thursday November 15th at 5 p.m. The MCCT gallery is open Monday to Friday from 9 am to 4 :30 pm. Admission is free. The Montreal Centre for Contemporary Textiles is a centre dedicated to the creation, research and promotion of contemporary textiles.
